Founding Families · FAQ
What does the listing actually show?
Your family name, your motto, your founder number, and (optionally) a link to your family site. No personal data. No photos of living people. No tree data. Just the public marker that you were here at the beginning.
Is the listing required?
No. The listing is opt-in. You can be a Lifetime or Founders family and choose to stay completely private. You can also un-list any time after, or change your displayed motto whenever you want.
What happens to my number if I don't renew (Founders tier)?
Your number is permanent. If you let your subscription lapse and reactivate later, you keep your original number. Founders pricing is locked for life on every renewal — even if you skip a year.
What's the difference between L and F numbers?
L · numbers are Lifetime founders (first 50, $1,499 one-time, unlimited contributors). F · numbers are annual Founders (first 100, $199/year locked for life, 25 contributors). Both groups are written into the foundation. L numbers come first on the wall.
Why do this at all?
Two reasons. One: the families who commit before there's a product to commit to deserve recognition. Two: FamilyTreesAI is meant to last for generations. The families who started it should be visible to the families who join in 2076. That's the kind of permanence we're building.
Will more founder tiers open later?
No. Once the 50 Lifetime spots and 100 Founders spots fill, the wall is closed permanently. New customers join at standard pricing ($399/year, 5 contributors). Founders pricing is never reissued.
